Pain is a feeling triggered in the nervous system. Pain may be sharp or dull. It may come and go, or it may be constant.

One may feel pain in one area of his / her body  such as the back, abdomen or chest.

Pain is an unpleasant sensation and emotional experience linked to tissue damage. Its purpose is to allow the body to

react and prevent further tissue damage

What Causes Pain?

Pain may be caused directly, due to nerve damage, or indirectly, due to other multiple sclerosis (MS) symptoms.

Pain could also be:

  • A side effect of drugs
  • Linked to an accident or other health condition
  • Caused by internal symptoms, such as a bladder infection
  • Caused by stress.
