Malaria Still Deadly – An Estimate of 2019 million Malaria Cases

Do you know that an estimated 219 million cases of malaria occurred worldwide and 5 countries accounted for nearly half of the malaria cases. Nigeria (25%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (11%), Mozambique (5%), India (4%) and Uganda (4%). About 440,000 people die from the disease and most of the people who died are young children in Africa.

How Malaria is Transmitted

SYMPTOMS

  • Fever

  • Chest or abdominal pain
  • Cough

PREVENTION

  • Application of  insect repellant to the skin and clothing. Sprays containing DEET can be used on skin and sprays containing permethrin are safe to apply to clothing.
  • Mosquito Nets. Bed nets, particularly those treated with insecticide will help prevent mosquito bites while one is sleeping.
  • Medicine: Malaria medicine like Reludrine tablets can help protect one from malaria parasites while Remal tablets helps treat Malaria patients.
